How do I install RealOne Player for Windows on my computer?
This document applies to:
- RealOne Player
- RealOne SuperPass
Normally, the RealOne Player is downloaded and installed during the purchase process of RealOne SuperPass. However, if it does not, search for the install file RealOnePlayerGold on your computer and double click it to begin installation. If you are unable to locate the install file on your computer, you will need to download a new file. If this does not resolve the issue, see the Troubleshooting section below for more information.
All versions use the same file to install the player. The file is named RealOnePlayerGold. There is no MacIntosh version at this time.
Downloading the install file for RealOne Player:
- If you have already purchased the RealOne SuperPass,
you can redownload the RealOne Player via the My Account page at Real.com.
Sign-in to My Account using your RealOne SuperPass email and password.
Click on the Redownload the RealOne Player link under My Software.
- If you have not purchased the RealOne SuperPass, you
may do so by visiting www.channel4.com.
Follow the purchase instructions to download and install the RealOne Player.
- If you would like to download and install the free version of the RealOne Player, you may do so by clicking on the Free RealOne Player link at www.real.com. Follow the instructions to download and install the RealOne Player.
Searching for the install file on your computer:
1. Click the Windows Start button, then point to Search, then click For Files or Folders.
2. Type RealOnePlayerGold in the Search for Files or Folders box.
3. Click Search Now. If the file is on your computer, Windows will show it in the Search Results pane. If the file is not found, download it again.
4. Double-click the file to run it; the program will guide you through the installation process.
Troubleshooting
If you are not able to locate the file on your computer, clear the temporary Internet files, reset your browser security settings, and quit other open programs. Then try to download RealOne Player again.
To delete temporary Internet files and reset security settings:
1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, click Delete Files, and then click OK.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click Default Level.Remember to quit all programs before you try to download again using your Web browser.
Windows XP Known Issue
If you are trying to download RealOne Player to a Windows XP computer, the computer may show a blue screen and stop responding. Normally, to resolve this you have to restart the computer. If this has happened to you when you try to download:
1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, then click Display.
2. On the Screen Saver tab, set Screen Saver to None.
3. Click Power.
4. On the Power Schemes tab, set System Standby to Never.Microsoft has documented a video driver incompatibility issue that can cause a blue screen when the Operating System becomes idle; for example, during a long download using a modem.
