About the RealAudio Encoder 2.0
The RealAudio Encoder 2.0 allows users to encode audio from many different formats into RealAudio format. Encoded RealAudio material can then be played over the Internet in real-time, using the RealAudio Server and the RealAudio Player. The RealAudio Encoder 2.0 has many exciting new features.
The RealAudio Encoder 2.0 can encode using two different algorithms:
- A new RealAudio 14.4 algorithm provides clearer monophonic AM quality sound, and requires a 14.4 Kbps modem or faster connection to the Internet
- The RealAudio 28.8 algorithm provides monophonic near-FM quality sound, and requires a 28.8 Kbps modem or faster connection to the Internet
The RealAudio Encoder 2.0 will encode digital audio from a file (Sound Designer II (.sd2), .aiff, .au or .snd format). These release notes contain all the information needed to setup and use the RealAudio Encoder 2.0 for Macintosh.
The RealAudio Encoder for Macintosh comes in two versions: ENCODER and ENCODERX. ENCODERX includes Xtras for SoundEdit 16 from Macromedia and allows SoundEdit 16 to save sound files directly into the RealAudio format.
