Error #104 DNS lookup timed out.

The attempt to resolve the address from the resource name, by looking it up in the Domain Name Server, failed due to a timeout.

A Domain Name Server, DNS, resolves a domain name, such as www.real.com, to a numeric IP address, such as 204.236.7.4. The most likely reason for a DNS server to time-out is network congestion.

You can try again when the network load is lower, or you can increase the Network timeout values under the Connection tab in the RealPlayer Preferences.

Problems can also be caused when a main Domain Name Server has problems. A recent incident involving the Domain Name Servers at Internic(July 17, 1997) which only lasted for approximately 4 hours, but created a ripple effect that caused problems for Internet Users for several days.

Another possible cause is that the Domain Name Server used by your ISP may need to be updated. In any case, this error is not caused by the Player or the system on which the Player is installed.

Please try the site again. If it fails, contact the Website administrator. If you receive this message from all sites, please contact your ISP to verify that they have updated their Domain Name Server recently.
