If you received this message while using a 486 SX Windows Computer, or an LC040 Apple Macintosh, your system is not equipped with a Floating Point Unit (FPU). The real-time algorithm used to decode the files requires an FPU (math-coprocessor) because the decoding is math intensive.
The only solution to this problem is to use the RealAudio Player or RealPlayer on a system equipped with an FPU. For Windows users, this means a 486DX or Pentium processor. If you have an Apple Macintosh, consult the technical documentation that came with the computer to see if it is equipped with an FPU. All Power Macintoshs are equipped with an FPU.
If you are receiving this error and your computer is equipped with an FPU please try performing a clean Player install. Instructions are linked below. If the clean install does not solve the problem, submit a Support Request.
If you received this message while using Windows NT 3.5 or 4.0 with a 16-bit version of the Player, you need to upgrade to a 32-bit Player and winsock. The 16-bit Players are not supported on Windows NT.
