    • Windows 95 with Service Pack 1, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4.
    • Intel® Pentium® processor 200MHz MMX, or Cyrix® 6x86MX PR233, or AMD® K5 PR-200.

    • Full duplex sound card and speakers.
    • 16-bit color video card.
    • Internet connection and web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 or later, Netscape 3.x or later).
    • RealPlayer G2 or RealPlayer Plus G2 (can be downloaded with RealJukebox).

  2. How do I install RealJukebox?

There are two installation paths for RealJukebox. Please choose the most appropriate option for your system.

RealPlayer G2 or RealPlayer Plus G2 is already installed
Since RealPlayer G2 or RealPlayer Plus G2 is already installed on your system, download the RealJukebox installer program from the RealJukebox download page.

    1. When prompted, choose Save to Disk and specify the folder where you want the RealJukebox installation program to be saved.
    2. When the download is complete, double-click the RealJukebox installer icon to begin the install process.

RealPlayer G2 is not installed or you do not know if it is installed
Since RealPlayer G2 is not installed (or you do not know if it is installed), download the combined RealPlayer G2 and RealJukebox installer program from the RealJukebox download page.

    1. When prompted, choose Save to Disk and specify the folder where you want the RealJukebox installation program to be saved.
    2. When the download is complete, double-click the combined RealPlayer G2 and RealJukebox installer icon to begin the install process.

  3. When do RealJukebox betas expire?

RealNetworks intentionally sets an expiration date in both the RealJukebox beta installer and the RealJukebox beta program. All our beta programs expire so that customers remember to install the latest beta or final release version of RealJukebox.

RealJukebox betas are set to expire 90 days after they are released. RealJukebox beta 1 expired on September 4, 1999. RealJukebox beta 2 and RealJukebox Plus beta expired on December 30, 1999.

To update your beta copy of RealJukebox to the final release version, go to http://www.real.com/jukebox and download the installer.

  4. How do I prevent RealJukebox from loading when Windows starts?

To prevent RealJukebox from loading when Windows starts, you must disable the RealJukebox StartCenter. Disabling StartCenter will, however, prevent automatic notification of upgrades and other information. To disable StartCenter, do the following:

    1. Right mouse click on the RealJukebox StartCenter icon in the Windows system tray.

Note: The system tray is the area where the time and the volume speaker are displayed.

    2. Choose Disable StartCenter from the shortcut menu.
    3. Click Yes when prompted to disable StartCenter.

The RealJukebox StartCenter icon in the Windows system tray.

RealJukebox will no longer automatically load when Windows starts.

  5. When installing, why do I receive the error, "RealJukebox is unable to setup security features. A component is required which is not present on your system"?

When you attempt to install RealJukebox, the installer displays the error, "RealJukebox is unable to setup security features. A component is required which is not present on your system."

In order to install RealJukebox successfully, please make sure that you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 or later and RealPlayer G2 or RealPlayer Plus G2 installed, then reinstall RealJukebox.

RealJukebox requires, but does not install, a security component included with Internet Explorer 3.01 or later. RealJukebox also requires components installed with RealPlayer G2. Installing Internet Explorer 3.01 or later and RealPlayer G2 installs the necessary components required by RealJukebox.
