This chapter explains how to create installers. Installers are executable files that point to specific configuration files and contain the components necessary to install RealPlayer on a desktop computer. Installers enable you to customize support for various types of media and specify the initial preferences that RealPlayers use.
Overview
Using the Web pages in RealSystem Administrator, you select components you want to include in the installation package for RealPlayer. When you generate the installer, RealPlayer Intranet Administrator builds an executable file containing the standard components needed for RealPlayer, plus the plug-ins you chose on the Installation page.
Adding a New Installer
Use the following procedure to create a new installer.
To add a new installer:
- Access RealSystem Administrator. (See "Accessing RealSystem Administrator".)
- Click Configure>Intranet Players>Installers. The following Web page appears.

- Click Add New to create a new installer. Enter the name of the installer in the Enter Configuration Name box, and then click OK. The name you enter automatically appears in the Installer Name and Installer File boxes.
- Change the name in either or both of the Installer Name and Installer File boxes, if necessary.

Note |
|
Installer files are assigned an executable (.exe) extension
by default. RealPlayer Intranet Administrator will
generate only installers that have this extension. If you
change the extension and attempt to generate the
installer, a warning message appears.
|

- Click Deselect All to exclude all of the options listed in the installer.
- Click Apply to save the current options.
- Click Close in the Configuration Change Results window.
- Click Generate to build the installer from the selected components. The Applying Changes progress bar shows you the status of the build process.
- Click Close.
