Chapter 1: Installing RealPresenter

This chapter details requirements needed by your system to run RealPresenter and also provides step-by-step installation instructions. You will also learn what other equipment and products you need to create a multimedia presentation.

System Requirements

RealPresenter is currently available for the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows^® 95 (OSR-2)
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 4)
Microsoft Windows 2000

In addition, you need the following hardware to run RealPresenter:

Other Requirements

You will need the following installed in order to use RealPresenter:

the latest version of RealNetworks RealPlayer^®
a compatible Internet browser, such as Netscape Navigator™ v 4.51 or later, or Microsoft Internet Explorer™ v 4.01 (Service Pack 1) or later
Microsoft PowerPoint 97 or 2000
a compatible video camera and video capture card, or a USB camera, if you wish to record video for your presentation
a microphone
speakers or a set of headphones connected to your sound card
a video camera or other video device (such as a VCR or DVD player)
a MAPI-enabled e-mail program is needed if you want to use notification

How to Install

Follow this procedure to install the product on your computer.

To install RealPresenter:

Insert the RealPresenter compact disc in your CD-ROM drive, or download the install program if you purchased the product from the RealNetworks Web site.
Close all open programs.
Double-click the Setup program to begin installation.
Click Yes when asked to shut down RealNetworks applications.
At the Welcome screen, click the Next button.
Inspect the Program License Agreement, and click Yes to agree.
Enter your name, the name of your company, and the serial number of the product. This number was given to you when you purchased the product (Plus only). Click Next when finished.
Choose a destination directory location or accept the default location, and click Next.
RealPresenter begins to install on your computer.
After installation is completed, you can select to view the ReadMe and create an icon for the program on your desktop. Click Finish to begin registration.
Enter your E-mail address, Country, and Zip Code in the applicable fields.
If you want to be informed of any updates to this product, select Inform Me of Updates and Events.
Click Finish to complete installation.
