RealVideo Encoder 1.0 for Windows Release Notes

Choosing a Template

When you encode a video file, you select an encoding template. RealNetworks has supplied several predefined encoding templates to assist users in determining the appropriate settings for different types of video input. You can select a predefined template or define a template especially for the type of video you are encoding. For a list to templates, refer to Pre-Defined Templates. For information about creating a templates, refer to Creating Templates.

Each template is optimized for a particular type of image and connection speed bandwidth. You need to select one or more templates that best suit your needs.

It is possible to offer more than one encoding algorithm from your RealVideo Server. In this way, you can reach the widest possible audience while still providing high-bandwidth users with the best listening experience. Using Bandwidth Negotiation, you can configure your site to automatically serve the appropriately encoded file. Refer to your manual for information about Bandwidth Negotiation.

Pre-Defined Templates

Below are the default setting for some common content types found in the RealVideo Encoder. If one of the following templates do not achieve the affect you are looking for, try another or try creating a new template based on a predefined template and modifying the settings.

Note: It is recommended that you don't modify the predefined templates. If you want to change some of the settings, save the template as a new template. This way, you do not overwrite the predefined templates.
