"Service unavailable. We're sorry - the RealPlayer sign in service could not be reached. Please ensure that you are online or try again later."
To resolve this, make sure you have the most recent player and are connected to the Internet, then try to sign in again. If RealPlayer thinks you are offline when you're not, you can change your online status. You can also enable cookies, temporarily disable your security-restrictive software, and reset your Internet Explorer settings. If the error still appears, configure the player's proxy server settings.
Solution 1: Make sure you have the latest RealPlayer, and are signed in.
Click here to make sure you have the latest RealPlayer installed on your system. To check your version number from the RealPlayer itself, choose Help > About RealPlayer.
Please see How do I sign in to RealPlayer? if you need password or login help. (If you are also a Comcast Rhapsody customer, click here for password help.)
Solution 2: Check your Internet connection.
If you are connected, trying to sign in again usually solves the problem. Click the Sign In button again and enter your e-mail address and password.
Solution 3: Try again.
If you have already signed in and are still getting this error, the RealNetworks membership sign-in server may be experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Try again in a few minutes.
Solution 4: Change RealPlayer's online status to suit your connection.
Many of RealPlayer's services require access to the Internet. RealPlayer can determine when you are using a dial-up modem to access the Internet and can automatically connect when necessary. If you are using a network connection or have a cable modem or DSL connection, you can let the RealPlayer assume you are online all the time.
To change the online status of RealPlayer:
1. On the Tools menu, click Preferences. The Preferences box opens.
2. In the Category pane, click Connection.
3. Click the Assume I am online option.
4. Click OK to save your changes.
5. Restart RealPlayer.
Solution 5: Enable cookies in RealPlayer.
To access your services and premium player features, you need cookies enabled for RealPlayer and Internet Explorer. If you do not enable cookies, features and services are disabled.
Solution 6: Temporarily disable Norton Personal Firewall or other security-restrictive software.
Ignore the following workaround if you do not have Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, or other security-restrictive software:
If you continue to receive this error, temporarily disable Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall (or other security-restrictive software). Try to sign in again. After signing into RealPlayer, enable your security software again.
Solution 7: Delete your cookies and other temporary Internet files and restore Internet Explorer security settings to their default levels.
Note: Close the RealPlayer and disable Norton Internet Security before proceeding. If you are using this service at work, you may want to clear this with your IT department before performing these steps.
Please see How do I delete my Internet Explorer temp files and change the privacy and security settings? for instructions. After you have updated your Internet Explorer settings successfully signed back in to RealPlayer, re-enable your security software.
Solution 8: Configure proxy settings.
If you continue to receive this error and have never successfully signed in, the proxy settings in the RealPlayer may be misconfigured. Close the sign in window and correctly configure your RealPlayer proxy preferences.
